We wanted to get one more camping trip in before putting the camper away for the winter.  AND K has never been to a UK football game.  Obvious answer – take K to Lex-town for a camping trip and UK game!

Friday night we made time for a little bed time snack and play time.  K and daddy took turns pushing the train and eating K’s new favorite snack – teddy bears with “hair” (dipped in peanut butter).

We enjoyed being near the playground on Saturday, and as you’ll see in one picture below, K practiced jumping off of things – and had a face plant or two.

We also got to grill burgers and get in some playground time with cousin Bradley and his crew!  (But failed to remember to take even one single picture…)

Saturday afternoon nap-time arrived for the 3 of us.  (We realized the pack n play days are numbered for K.  He now stretches the full length of it!)  We then rudely interrupted nap time to get dressed up and go to the football game!  K was not too sure about this – but eventually cheered up.  Before kick off, we stopped in for some pizza at one of my favorite college spots – Pazzo’s!

The game itself was also fun.  Despite it starting at 7:00, (his bed time is 8:00) he hung in there like a trooper!  He loved the band, loud cheering, and when we left our seats in the 2nd quarter to find my friend Erin, he LOVED the room to run!  He would yell “Go Big Blue” and we were fairly close to getting the CATS cheer right.  We saw some signs of K finally wearing down, so we decided not to push our luck and left around the end of the 3rd quarter.  We all slept like rocks!

Sunday we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast, then packed up and drove home so we could winterize.  Farewell for the winter, camper!  It’s been a fun few weeks, and we look forward to a summer full of camping next year!

K went to his 18 month checkup today – a little late.  So he is actually 19.5 months.

He did…terrible!  Once we started walking back to the room, the panic was pretty much non-stop.  He wouldn’t even get on the scale, so I weighed myself with and without him.  (Yikes)

Keeping in mind he was not a willing participant in any of these measurements, we believe K:

Weighs 29 pounds (80%)

Is 34.5 inches tall (90%)

And has a consistently off the charts head.

Good news – He’s a healthy growing boy!!

Bad news – Mama is healthy and GROWING too?  I weighed more than I thought.  (I was wearing boots?)

Good news – He did not try to bite or kick the doctor.

Bad news – Apparently pediatricians EXPECT to get kicked and bit?

Good news – Healthy lungs!  K can yell “no” “all done” “bye bye doctor” “up mommy” and “no more” with surprising volume and clarity. 

Bad news – Not even an Elmo sticker could stop the madness.  Elmo is losing his power.

Good news – He sure loves his mama and thinks I can help him escape all evil. (Take THAT Elmo!)

Not the beachy kind…the squirmy splashy giggling kind!  That’s the name of K’s swim class!  He attended for the 3rd time just this week.  I’m not sure what my expectations were, but I feel like they’ve been exceeded.  The class is well ran…and K LOVES to “shwim”!

For class number one, mama underestimated the time it would take to get there and get geared up…so we were roughly 2 minutes late.  Late enough that everyone was already in the pool splashing, singing, and making a raucous.  It looked like a party to me!  But K was a little overwhelmed…and uninterested.  We spent the next 15 minutes warming up to the idea, then discovered the joy of blowing bubbles in the water.  It’s been true love ever since!

K now has to be held back until it is time for our class to start.  In fact, on Monday of this week he woke up and immediately started asking daddy about the “shwim pool?”.

What do we do?  Well…

We sing songs like Teapot, Hokie Pokie, Wheels on the Bus and do motions while splashing in the water.  They stand on the side and sing the monkey and alligator song and practice jumping in to the arms of their awaiting parents.  They practice laying on their bellies and backs while making circles, and going through tunnels.  They get a small toy to throw and then “swim” to.  And this week…they got to slide in to water!  K loves ALL of it!  Well…see for yourself…this week daddy was in town and was able to come take some pictures of the chaos.   And the many faces of mama (sheesh).
