Life List

life list, lissencephaly

I’ve been thinking about this idea for a while, but was afraid to post it because at a glance it is a bit morbid. But stick with me.

It’s a life list for the babies. Or perhaps better known to you…a bucket list.

Something about 7 month old babies having a life list might not sit well with some.

But I made them a promise.

And to me…making the most of life isn’t depressing at all. It’s a fun challenge. No matter your age or circumstance.

I’d like to keep up with some of the fun things the babies are doing that can be marked off of their “life list”.   They are slowly becoming more alert and less fragile.  …And there are just some things all little boys should do.

For starters, let’s get caught up on some things they’ve checked off so far:

  • Capture your mama’s heart
  • Be told you look like your daddy
  • Snuggle with your big brother
  • Go for a family walk
  • Take a road trip
  • Go on a wagon ride

Ok…so I didn’t say they would ENJOY every activity.  (Maybe we’ll pick a less windy day for our next walk).  Just that as the temperature is rising, so is our readiness to start having some fun moments and new experiences.   We already have plans for their first swim and first time to the beach.  And I have a few other items planned for the coming months.

If you have ideas, or something you would like to help them do (locally or when we visit your area) let me know! This will be a growing list. Hopefully it will take us many years, and include more checks, more smiles, and more memories than anyone could have ever imagined.

Easter Fun and a Whole Lot Of Love!

I have so many things to catch you up on, that I will do it in more than one post. That just means more photos coming your way. Hopefully you’re not too upset by that. 😉

Our SEVEN MONTH OLD boys made their first road trip! We went to Kentucky to visit my family for Easter. I had high hopes for the travel, but also realistic expectations. All 3 boys exceeded both. We are currently on a high where we feel like we can travel anywhere with these kids.   You can remind me of that when I return with some comical travel failure story months from now. For now…long live the mini van!

Anyway, that’s just the commute. The important part was the visit. And the babies were pretty popular! On Friday and Saturday around 30 people were able to love on the boys. On Sunday…they were a hot commodity at church! Here are some pictures of their new, or in some cases familiar snugglers.

Their cousins took the snuggling very seriously. “W” was fairly close to insisting he stay the night to help out.  🙂  And both he and “G” were able to solicit smiles better than any of us!

K had tons of fun too.  He rode in a wagon, hunted eggs, and even helped Papaw plant some green beans!

K was sad in the group shot because he “couldn’t see the birdie”.   🙂

Hope you enjoyed the photo overload!  One thing is for sure…these boys are LOVED!

Up next…a post about some of the boys’ fun firsts…and the makings of a “Life List”.

If you have a quick minute, Landon has something to show you.

Yay Landon!  We are seeing more and more grasping out of both boys. If we put an object in their hand they hang on to it longer.   In this scenario, when they are below hanging toys, I shake the toys to make noise, and brush them against their hands so they know there is something to reach for.  Their arms are more active than when you do not indicate there is something above them.  (Side note in case you’re newer here…while we know the boys notice light, we do not believe they see much otherwise, so in addition to everything else, they are battling vision challenges).

If it seems accidental, note that he adjusts his grip.  Later he also re-grabbed it, re-adjusted, and then ate it!  This boy wanted to grab that ring.  And he did it.
