22 Week Quiz! (And Belly Pic!)

How far along? 22 weeks today!

How big are the babies?  11 inches, and almost a pound each! 

Weight gain? 19 pounds!  Yowser!  Quite a jump in the last four weeks!  That’s comparable to my 28-29 week weight gain with K.  🙂

Stretch Marks? Not yet.  Magically.

Maternity clothes? I’m wearing lots of dresses and skirts, they seem more forgiving.  A neighbor/friend supplied some summer shirts that I can wear to work.  And we bought some summer shorts at the Motherhood Outlet while on vacation.  So I’m feeling “set”…until I balloon up more.

Sleep? Meh…Not great.

Cravings? Not really.

Nursery update? ALMOST!  Instead, we DO have K’s big boy room updated.  Look for a separate post on that.  And I’ve settled on themes for the nursery.  We just need to know which gender combination we’ll have.  We’ll learn the genders ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!

Movement? Yup!  These babies are busy!

High point?  Vacation, getting K’s big boy room knocked out. 

Low point? Back pain!  I don’t remember hurting this bad with K, even at the end.  A dull ache is common, and shooting sciatic nerve pains are fairly common too.  There are times I can’t even bear full weight on my right leg.  Other times I have no pain at all.  I hope this isn’t a sign of back labor ahead!!!!

Here’s a 22 week belly peek.  Note that my background changed a bit! This was going to be the nursery for the baby.  (Before baby became BABIES.)  So now it’s K’s big boy room, and we’ll soon migrate these photos in to the under construction nursery.

Quiz: 16 weeks!

How far along? 16 weeks today!

How big are the babies? Nearly 5 inches long from crown to rump, and now weighing 3+ ounces.

Weight gain? As of this morning I’ve gained 8 pounds.  But it is all in the form of a very round belly.  I can already tell my belly is going to be HUGE!  I’ve even had people touch it already.  (Too soon…too soon…)

Stretch Marks? Not yet.   But I’m mentally preparing for a road map.

Maternity clothes? I gave back a lot of the ones I borrowed last time.  And most of my remaining items are for winter babies.  Since I’ll be large and HOT most of the summer…I’ll need to seek out a few more summer pregnancy options.  For now I’m wearing normal pants with a bella band, and normal shirts, in an unflattering way.

Sleep? I’m struggling to transition to my back.  No matter how much I try to wedge myself on my side, I find a way to roll over in my sleep.  Otherwise I’m sleeping well right now.

Pregnancy symptoms: Backaches and/or Headaches on occasion.  No more constant nausea though!

Cravings? Nope.  Boring, huh?  At least eating doesn’t feel like a chore anymore.

Nursery update?  We’ll wait for gender news.  BUT we did purchase a bed, bedding, and a few accessories for K’s big boy room.  We also found out K’s crib has been discontinued, so our plan to get an identical one has failed.

Movement?  I don’t think I’ve felt any kicks yet.  But those early ones are so subtle.  I feel things…but not strong enough to say with confidence it is the babies.

Gender suspicions? Hmm.  Based on some unreliable internet research, and some more reliable input from a mom with twins and a friend who is a doctor, I believe they are identical.  And with that in mind, *today* I think we’re having two identical boys.

High point? Mother’s day with “Gamma”, Mom/Nana, and the whole crew.

Low point?  Not getting a heartbeat at the 14 week checkup.  (Story here)

Other: Hmm…we’re also preparing for growth in the area of transportation.  We purchased a mini-van.  The verdict is in, and I already love it.

Quiz: 10 Weeks

How far along? 10 weeks

How big are the babies? Each is just over an inch long and weighs in around a quarter of an ounce.

Weight gain? 2 lbs as of this morning. Some days that’s as high as 3 or as low as zero. That sounds low…but it still within the target range at this point even for twins. I’m sure I’ll more than make up for that later! Especially once food starts to taste good again.

Maternity clothes? No need yet! Although I have a new shirt or two from Target that I’ve worn just because I like them.

Sleep? Pretty good so far. There’s usually a 3 AM potty break…but otherwise I’m sleeping pretty well. I’m already trying to get in the habit of sleeping on my left side instead of my back, but that’s a hard habit to form. I’m napping in the evenings more once K heads to bed.

Pregnancy symptoms: I’m still nauseous most of the time. Not enough to get sick. Just enough to grumble and moan throughout the day. (Sorry work neighbor).

Cravings? Not yet. In fact nothing sounds very good…

Nursery update? Starting to look at ideas. I like a forest/animal theme. Or zoo. Or no theme and just fun colors and patterns. BUT…that will be easier to think about when we know whether we’re having two boys, two girls, or one of each!

Movement? Too soon to feel. But they are busy in there!

Gender suspicions? Not really. I put a lot of stock in lots of sickness being a sign of a girl. I’m definitely more sick than I was with K, but I don’t think I’ve been sick enough for two girls. So for now, I’m guessing one of each?

High point? We we able to share our news with my family over Easter weekend!

Low point? It seems traveling makes me feel car sick now.

What am I looking forward to? Upcoming wedding for a friend, and all the festivities that go along with it!

What do I miss? Liking food!

Doctor Update: We’ve had our initial exam, ultrasound, and lab work. I go back in early May for my next check up!
